Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided to postpone its inaugural Lanka Premier League (LPL) due to quarantine rules for foreign players.
Country’s health authorities insisted that the outsiders must go a two-week quarantine period due to COVID-19 restrictions.

SLC had announced last month that it hoped to resume top-level cricket with the Lanka Premier League (LPL) from August 28 with the participation of 70 international players.
“We asked for a three-day quarantine period, but the health authorities insisted on 14 days. Under those restrictions, it is not feasible to hold the tournament this month,” a board official told AFP.
In a statement released Yesterday, SLC said the tournament will be postponed to November, but did not give a schedule for the matches.
It must be noted that domestic Cricket in Sri Lanka has been resumed from Monday, August 10 under the health ministry guidelines.
