‘His own game plan made him successful’ Younis praised Shan

Manchester: Pakistan’s batting coach Younis Khan thinks that Shan Masood has improved himself by his own game planning and not his instructions.

Speaking to SkySports, Khan, Shan’s mentor since his childhood playing days, said the left-handed batsman himself worked on his technique and made his batting speaks itself.

“I think his own game plan made him successful and not my instructions. I just sat back in the pavilion and kept on backing him from there,” he said.

“Mentality matters in cricket and as I got into batting coach position, I just tried to work on his mentality and asked him to hold himself,” he added.

It must be noted here that Shan scored his career-best 156 runs in the first inning of the opening Test against England at Old Trafford. He also becomes the second opener to score three centuries in three consecutive Test innings.
