World snooker champion appreciates government for resuming sports

Lahore: World snooker champion Mohammad Asif appreciated government’s decision to resume sports activities in the country from August 10.

In a video message, Asif said that lockdown situation and no sports activities around affected many sportsmen financially.

“Due to lockdown and no snooker activities since the last four months, players including club owners and all other people suffered through serious financial crisis,” said Asif.

“Finally, now the government has announced to open clubs and resume sports activities so it will be a relief for all of us,” he added.

Former president of Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation (PBSF) Alamgir Sheikh also praised the government’s decision to return to sports.

“Resuming sports and opening sports clubs will help people come back to their normal life,” he said.

It must be noted here that Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 5 was the last sports activity in the country. Thereafter, the lockdown was imposed in the country due to COVID-19 outbreak.

Now, as the lockdown eases down, the government has decided to gradually open public places, cinemas, markets and resume sports activities.
