
Karachi: Veteran pacer Tabish Khan claimed his 38th fifer of his first-class career as Sindh restricts Central Punjab to 206/9 on the opening day of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy first-round clash at National Stadium.
Sindh’s captain Sarfaraz Ahmed opted to bowl first. Tabish removed Ali Zaryab in the early stages of the day. In the 16th over, CP’s captain Azhar Ali departed as Mir Hamza rattled his stumps.
Ahmed Shehzad (69) in his comeback match posted fifty and was the notable scorer for CP. He was removed by Fawad Alam as he went for a rash shot.

CP suffered a collapse after Shehzad’s wicket. They lost six wickets for 79 runs. Mohammad Saad was the other recognized run-getter, scoring 51 off 142 balls.
By removing Saad, Tabish registered 38th fifer of his career. Tabish took wickets of Zaryab, Saad, Qasim Akram, Waqas Maqsood and Hasan Ali.

On the other hand, Balochistan posted 306/7 against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa courtesy of Bismillah Khan’s century and Kashif Bhatti’s splendid knock.
Opting to bat first, Balochistan lost four wickets on just 43. Left-hander Sami Aslam was the lone warrior, scoring a fighting fifty (56). For the sixth wicket, Bismillah and Kashif added 160 runs partnership. Kashif was two-run short of registering his third first-class century. His innings included 19 fours while Bismillah was at 102* at the stumps on Day one.
Imran Khan, Junaid Khan and Ahmed Jamal bagged two wickets each for KP.

In the third match of the opening round, Southern Punjab dominated the proceedings against Northern at NBP Sports complex.
Northern were wrapped up for 165 in the first innings. The 32-year-old Zahid Mehmood was the pick of the bowlers for Sindh, picking 4-41. Salman Ali Agha claimed 3/31.

In reply, SP scored 180/1 at stumps. Captain Shan Masood (80*) and Hussain Talat (53*) registered fifties. Umar Siddiq departed after scoring 40.
